Bamyan is a province in the North of Afghanistan.  It is surrounded by mountains. This province has more than 2000 years of history. At that time all the people were Bedims. They made a lot of sculpture to worship.
There was a mogul leader who attacked in Bamyan. When he conquered Bamyan he killed all the people in this province. After the passage of time this province looked like rolling hills, no one lived there. One hundred years ago people found some old stuff there, after that people understood that they might find a lot things there. After searching they found the sculptures and some other old things which helped them learn about the history of Bamyan.
Bamyan is very famous because of its sculptures. There are a lot of sculptures, which were made in the past time. There is a very big sculpture which is as high as a mountain. This sculpture is known as the biggest sculpture in the world.This sculpture took a long time to make, people worship this sculpture as a symbol of God. This sculpture was made before Islam in Afghanistan. Bamyan sculpture was made in a mountain. This sculpture looks like a man standing on the ground .Its height is the same as a mountain.
Bamyan is one of the historical places in Afghanistan.  These places are very important for Afghanistan. Because all places in Bamyan can tell us a lot about past time. Every year a lot of tourists came to Bamyan to visit this ancient place.
